Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DisCorkie (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), developed by AppOutlet, collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile and desktop application.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Information You Provide Directly:
- Email Address: When you create an account and log in using our passwordless authentication method, you provide your email address.
- Information Collected Automatically:
- Unique User Identifier (UUID): When you create an account, our authentication provider, Supabase, assigns a unique identifier to your account. This UUID is used to manage your DisCorkie account and to synchronize your subscription status across devices and platforms.
- Discourse Authentication Tokens: When you log in to a third-party Discourse instance through DisCorkie, the authentication token provided by that Discourse server is stored only locally on your device. These tokens are necessary to allow the App to access your account and content on those specific Discourse forums. These tokens are deleted from your device when you sign out of the corresponding Discourse instance from within DisCorkie.
- Usage Data and Crash Reports: We collect limited, anonymized data about how the App is used and receive automated crash reports (particularly on Android) to help us understand technical issues and improve the App’s stability and performance. This data does not personally identify you.
Please note that we do not store or collect your password for your DisCorkie account.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and manage your DisCorkie account and give you access to the App’s features.
- To enable you to securely log in to and interact with the Discourse forums you choose to add to the App (using the locally stored authentication tokens).
- To manage and synchronize your app subscriptions across different platforms (e.g., Android, iOS, Desktop).
- To monitor the App’s performance, identify and resolve technical issues and bugs, and improve the overall user experience.
3. How We Share Your Information
We share your information with third parties only in the following limited circumstances:
- Authentication Services: We use Supabase as our authentication provider. Your email address and unique user identifier (UUID) are shared with and processed by Supabase solely for the purpose of facilitating your passwordless login and account management within DisCorkie.
- Subscription Management: We utilize Adapty to manage subscriptions across different platforms. To synchronize your subscription status (e.g., if you subscribe on Android and want premium features on desktop), a unique user identifier associated with your DisCorkie account is shared with Adapty. Adapty may, in turn, interact with Google (Google Play), Apple (App Store), and Stripe (our payment processor) to verify and manage your subscription status. This sharing is strictly limited to what is necessary for subscription management.
- Discourse Instances (Third-Party Services): When you log in to or interact with a specific Discourse forum within DisCorkie, you are directly connecting to and using a service provided by the operators of that Discourse forum. DisCorkie does not control the data collected, stored, or processed by these third-party Discourse servers. Your activity on those forums is governed by their respective privacy policies. We strongly encourage you to review the privacy policies of each individual Discourse forum you use.
- Analytics and Crash Reporting: We use Google’s Firebase service (primarily on Android) to collect anonymized usage data and automated crash reports. This data helps us understand app performance and fix issues but does not personally identify you.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government request).
- To Protect Our Rights: We may disclose information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding potential violations of our policies, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, or as evidence in legal proceedings.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your DisCorkie account information (email and UUID) is stored securely with our authentication provider, Supabase. We take reasonable measures to protect the information we handle, including using encryption and secure communication protocols where appropriate.
Importantly, the authentication tokens for the Discourse instances you add are stored only on your device and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
5. Data Retention
We retain your DisCorkie account information (email and UUID) for as long as your account is active. If you delete your DisCorkie account, this information will be removed from our active databases, although some data may be retained in backup copies for a limited period in accordance with our data retention policies.
Locally stored Discourse authentication tokens are retained on your device until you sign out of the specific Discourse instance within DisCorkie or uninstall the App.
Anonymized usage data and crash reports are retained for as long as necessary to analyze trends and improve the App.
6. Your Privacy Rights
You have certain rights regarding your personal information. These may include the right to access, correct, or request deletion of the limited personal information we hold about you (your email and UUID).
Your Data Deletion Rights:
You have the right to request the deletion of your DisCorkie account and the personal data we hold about you. To learn more about how to request data deletion and understand what data is deleted or kept, please visit our dedicated page:

Requesting Account and Data Deletion for DisCorkie
To exercise these rights, or if you have questions about your data, please contact us using the details provided in the “Contact Us” section below. Please note that as we only store your email and a UUID for your DisCorkie account via Supabase, the scope of data we hold directly about you is limited. Data on third-party Discourse servers is subject to their respective privacy policies.
7. Third-Party Links
This Privacy Policy applies only to the information collected by DisCorkie. The App allows you to connect to third-party Discourse forums, which have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties.
8. Children’s Privacy
DisCorkie is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page or through other appropriate communication channels within the App. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
